Knowledge in Marketing

In November 2008 Divante published a report entitled “Knowledge Management in Marketing”. Research was conducted from August to October 2008 in cooperation with Mediarun.pl.

Conclusions

Systems for publishing documents via intranet or on the Internet exist in 46% of companies. The presence of document flow shows a similar result (45%). In companies where there are no such systems, respondents would like to have them (27%). There is a lot of work to do in the field of IT tools and IT systems, as well as in the field of work procedures and the culture of knowledge exchange.

Only 26% of companies have professional software to code knowledge and ideas. There is very little awareness of existing and available tools for gathering and using knowledge or idea management.

Currently, the most desired IT tools are: idea management tools and forums for experience and idea exchange.

Only 20% of companies have implemented such systems. In 66% of polled departments there are no techniques for supporting creativity and the rest use well-known brainstorm programs (76%).

Most employers encourage employees in creativity and development – moreover (and most importantly) they also reward them for it. However, employers are reluctant to implement innovative ideas generated by their employees until they are accepted by the board or managers.

Research procedure

Research was conducted on 277 respondents from nationwide companies. The method of research used was Internet surveys, conducted between August and October 2008.
